Home Cleaning Tips for Diwali

  1. Instead of using the cleaners available in your local dept store like the lizol, mr.mucles etc..They contain such hazardous stuff in them,,so instead of using those you can switch to a much cheaper and safer call purpose cleaner = White wine vinegar. Yes people you heard it right you just need this amazing stuff to keep your home sparkly clean.
  2. Always use hand gloves before you start doing your chores.. I use the Scotch Brite gloves they cost less than Rs 100.
  3. If you use soap to take bath / shower, when they become very small after usage and you don't want to use it. Keep storing those soap bits and put it into a old socks and tie it with a fancy ribbon. You could use this by dipping into water,,,......if you want to clean some stubborn dirty places..kitchen shelf , fan etc..these are very effective and they are soft on your skin unless you use rin shakti to take shower...hehehehe..
  4. Cleaning the fridge with the half a lemon dipped in vinegar..,,, really works. It leaves a very lemony smell.................mmmm clean...
  5. To clean the mirrors and glass surfaces in the house. Instead of using Kollen (remember the T.V commercial funny huh ), you could use piece of newspaper and fold it several times & dust the surface that needs to be cleaned with Vibhuti (greyish ash) that is offered in the temple.  Clean the surface and you got yourself a brand new mirror.
Let me know if these tips worked for you., and also if you have any other new tips....

    •  Add sugar and whisk it again, finally add (Milk/curd/ fresh cream) any one of these and whisk it nice and good..

Tips to cook faster for Working women

I'm housewifing right now, but when I was working in Bangalore I used to cook breakfast and lunch in the morning before going to office. And when i say breakfast it was not cornflakes or bread butter jam,,,proper nashta....These are the things that I learned over to period of 2 yrs that helps me to cook fast and not slog in the kitchen.

    1. When you buy your vegetables, try to clean and store them individually in tupperware boxes (freezer mate).
    2. Store those tupperware boxes on top in which the vegetables are more perishable than the others.
    3. I have bought green chille box & onion box from Tupperware, the shape of the boxes resemble the vegetable....its super cute.........
    4. For the next days cooking, I usually after dinner time while watching TV...peel the required onion, garlic, chop the tomatoes,  chop the vegetables and clean the green leafy vegetables...so its easier to cook...saves a lot time..believe me...
    5. If I have guest coming over for lunch/ dinner.. i make a paste of onion & tomato, ginger-garlic paste, tamarind pulp not juice, green chille paste..If I'm making non-veg i steam the onion till they are transparent and make a paste out of it.....
    6. Buy badam, kaju, kismish, pista etc and fry them a lil to remove any moisture left and store them in air-tight containers...You can just eat them always,,and use it as garnish to some turn some dull boring khana to a delicacy.

      • Wash the brinjals and wipe it dry with a kitchen towel.
      • Make incisions in the brinjals.
      • Take a kadai and add a tablespoon of oil, wait till it gets hot and add the dhalls and the dried red chillies one by one and fry till it becomes light brown.
      • Wait for the dhals to cool off  and grind it to a nice powdery consistency. Before you grind it add salt and a pinch of hing.
      • Take the incised brinjals and stuff it with the masala powder that we just made.
      • Now heat a kadai add half a cup of gingelly oil and fry the brinjals one-by-one, make sure they don't break. Keep it in a separate plate .
      • In the same kadai with the left over oil add the mustard seeds and curry leaves. Now add the tamarind water and the rest of the masala powder. Wait for it to boil and put the stove on simmer mode for about 6 mins.
      • After 6 mts all the oil would come on top of the gravy, now when you add the fried brinjal and cook for about 2 min.
      • Serve hot with steamed rice and poppadom.

      Endhiran/Robot Movie Review

Watched Endhiran/Robot movie today, touted as THE highest grossing movie in the Indian film industry till date. Rajnikanth and Aishwayra Rai are in the lead roles in this futuristic sci-fi movie.

The story is pretty predictable that is if you have watched Hollywood movies. Its is about a Scientist Vaseegaran(Rajnikant), who creates a android robot named Chiti(Rajnikant), which can do so many things . The robot eventually falls for Sana(Aishwarya Rai) and things get out of control as the robot kidnaps Sana when she is about to get married to Vaseegaran. How the scientist saves his lady love and control the robot is the basic gist of the movie.

You may be wondering as to why this movie is making waves in the country apart form ayodhya & CWG issue. Well off-course the graphics dah....and they way the songs have been pictured and the music is by Rahman...something to watch for..and the way Director Shankar is able to pair a 60+ bald actor and a much younger actress so well is amazing.... The first half of the movie is racy, however the later half seems to drag on for like ever,,,but it is worth a watch. Aishwarya is looking gorgeous in both Indian and western outfits, make-up and styling though she needs to work on her weight and wrinkles...jus kidding ..she is still beautiful....
